Holsteiner Classification Tour 2010

A Classification Tour is to take place this summer from 22nd February and 5th March 2010.

The principle Classifier will be Herr Hanno Koehncke from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He and his family are successful breeders of Holsteiner horses and he is also a member of the judging commission for breeding in Holstein.

Details of his literary in New Zealand will depend on demand. It is anticipated that the tour will spend the week of 22nd to 26th February in the North Island and 1st to 5th March in the South Island.
It will be 3 years since a Classification Tour took place so we expect many applications for classification. We will do our best to satisfy all demands but we cannot guarantee that all can be seen.

For your information;
 Applications for membership of HHANZ go to our Treasurer: Margo Aasen. Forms are available elsewhere on this website.
 Applications for registering your horses and applications for classification go to our Registrar: Belinda Girl.
 Categories for Classification:

  • Holsteiner Stallions (need to be free jumped and ridden)
  • Holsteiner mares (Holsteiners in NZ must be 7/8 Holsteiner at least and the rest must be Holsteiner, TB or Anglo-Arab)
  • Foundation Mares. (Mares allowed in NZ for breeding Holsteiner Horses. Must be TB, Holsteiner, or Anglo-Arab)
  • Foals. (Foals usually classified with dam before weaning. Both Sire and Dam must be registered in the studbook or are being presented the same day and qualify)
  • Yearlings and 2 year old fillies and colts.( as there has been no tour for 3 years, there will be many yearlings and 2-year olds plus a few older horses.)

Note:
 The comments on the above categories are an indication only. Please refer to our Societies Rules elsewhere on this website for full details.
 If you are likely to have multiple horses to present, an early unofficial indication to one of the tour convenors may increase the chances of a site visit.
 Tour convenors:

  • NI Carolyn McCree and Louise Dunn
  • SI Diana Rickerby

(A Classification Site must have a dressage size enclosed arena that allows free running).
